Losing 2 pounds a week is borderline unhealthy. It would help to know how much you way now, because 28 lbs could also be extremely unhealthy. I know that doesn’t answer you question, exactly, but I’m more worried about your overall health than your weight.

To lose one lb, you need to eliminate 3500 calories either by not eating them, or exercising to burn them off. So, to lose 2 lbs per week, you will have to eliminate 7000 calories per week. It’s not possible to say how many calories you should consume, because I don’t know your weight, but there’s your rule to go by. Eliminate 1000 calories per day. (But make sure this is a combination of diet AND exercise. You don’t want your caloric intake to be too low, because that would be unhealthy.)
A healthy weight loss is typically considered 1 lb per week. As you can see by the above numbers, 2 lb per week would be very hard to achieve in a healthy manner.
Good luck.

I had the same problem … 10 hours of sitting at a desk and then being worn down at the end of the day where I just wanted to stare at the tv.
There is a FREE website called SparkPeople.com where you complete a profile of where you are now and what you want to achieve. It will then set you up on a path of ‘baby steps’ to get you moving a little more, teach you little things you change in your daily eating habits to cut calories, and teach you how to make choices in every day life (like when all your friends want to go out to dinner).
It offers a Nutrition Tracker, Fitness Tracker, and a huge support community where you can ask questions and find answers. They have members who have achieved their goals and have been there for over a year later maintaining and trying to help motivate others.
Thanks to SP I’ve learned to eat healthier, be more physically active (and I still sit at a desk all day), and have lost more than 25 lbs in the last 6 months. I still have another 15 to work on, but I’m thrilled with my success.
Good luck on your weight loss journey, but commit to just having a healthier lifestyle.
