How do I know my own calorie intake in order to see results?

Social Worker 2 b! asked:

There are so many things I have read that have a calorie intake scale according to ages, and sex. How do I know what my own calorie intake should be? I’ve been stuck in my same weight for a year now… I am counting calories now and keeping a journal… how many calories should I be counting?
Oh! and I am a 31 year old female!
